From: Sargy Chima, CEIU NVP BC/YT
Hello ,
My name is Sargy Chima. I am the region’s first South Asian racially visible woman to be elected as your National Vice-President (NVP) for the Canada Employment and Immigration Union (CEIU) in the British Columbia and Yukon Territory region (BC/YT.)
Growing up in a South Asian family I understand the struggles and challenges of work-life balance, employment conditions, and working for change.
I have experience leading teams, negotiating collective agreements (as one of your bargaining team members for PSAC at the PA table), representing all members (Racially Visible, LGBT2Q+, Indigenous, Person with Disability, Youth and Women), consulting with management, on the local executive, and with union finance committees.
As your NVP my vision moving forward is building a strong union and modernizing our locals. I will be your voice and representative working towards addressing workplace issues, developing positive solutions and implementing results, driving inclusivity and transparency, engaging and empowering members, and making every effort to conduct local visits on a regular basis.
I would like to thank the outgoing NVP, Vanessa Sandsmark for her work over the past four years.
I look forward to working with all of you, your locals, regional representatives, as well as all the incredible staff at CEIU!
I would like to hear from you and invite you to join me online via Zoom on September 8, 2021 7:00 PM PDT. Please register in advance for this meeting at:

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you the 8th!
